Grade 8 math practice
A new set whenever you’re ready. Pick a grade and a skill, work it out, then see the thinking behind each answer.
These are selected skills using common US-style grade groupings, not a complete curriculum or placement test. School sequences vary. Choose the level that fits your learner.

Will I get different questions each time?
Yes. Generate a fresh set to get new number combinations. A shared link reproduces the same questions. These use defined mathematical rules, not an AI chatbot.
Can I use equivalent fractions?
Yes. For example, 2/4 and 1/2 are both accepted for one half. Use a fraction for repeating decimals. Enter mixed numbers as 1 1/2.
Are answers or progress saved?
No. Answers stay in this page session and are not sent to a teacher. Refreshing or generating a new set clears your work. Shared links include only the question settings, never answers or learner details.
What will print?
The current questions print as a blank worksheet, with an answer key on a separate page. You can also choose Save as PDF in your print dialog.
Answer key
1. -1
Slope = change in y ÷ change in x = (0 − (5)) / (4 − (-1)) = -5/5 = -1.
2. 52
c² = 20² + 48² = 2704. The positive square root is 52 cm.
3. 125
Multiply 5 by itself 3 times: 5 × 5 × 5 = 125.
4. -5
Slope = change in y ÷ change in x = (-29 − (1)) / (9 − (3)) = -30/6 = -5.
5. 20
c² = 12² + 16² = 400. The positive square root is 20 cm.
6. 32
Multiply 2 by itself 5 times: 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 = 32.
7. -3
Slope = change in y ÷ change in x = (-19 − (-4)) / (4 − (-1)) = -15/5 = -3.
8. 204
c² = 96² + 180² = 41616. The positive square root is 204 cm.
9. 16
Multiply 4 by itself 2 times: 4 × 4 = 16.
10. -3
Slope = change in y ÷ change in x = (-11 − (1)) / (3 − (-1)) = -12/4 = -3.
